Civic Shift

Civic Shift began as a submission for the 2024 David Prize. Although it wasn’t selected, the idea remained important to me, and I’ve continued developing it as part of my broader civic design work.

Civic Shift reimagines public service jobs in New York City as flexible, meaningful opportunities that are easy to access and grounded in community impact. Instead of navigating slow, bureaucratic systems, residents could use a simple app to find short-term work that serves the public good.

Drawing inspiration from the convenience of gig platforms and the urgent needs of our city, Civic Shift empowers New Yorkers to take on roles that directly improve their neighborhoods. From cleaning streets and planting greenery to maintaining infrastructure and supporting local initiatives.
